Belly fat is all about too many of the wrong carbohydrates. If you love carbs but need to lose the spare tire this class is for you. You’ll learn what carbohydrates help you burn fat and which adds fat; what the glycemic index is and how you can use it to keep your weight off; how does fiber, fat and protein levels in carbs make a difference in whether you will store those calories or burn them. We will prepare some delicious healthy dishes that include the ‘good carbs’.

Brrrrrr winter is here and that means it's soup season! Come join Chef Suzanne Landry and learn the fundamentals and basics of delicious soup, stew and stock making!
Students will learn how to make stocks from scratch, both vegetable and meat stocks. Techniques will include the three important rules in building delicious soups from scratch. Soups will range from cream base to Minestrone and include chicken soup from scratch. Alternates to dairy is covered as well. Stews will include the technique of braising and building rich stocks for stews.

Learn easy knife skills, care and sharpening of knives while enjoying tasty recipes. What are the four knives you must have in the kitchen. How to sharpen them and use them like a pro. Want to save time in the kitchen? Learn how to cut like a chef, fast and efficient. We’ll cover knife skills; kitchen shortcuts (ex: how to cut an onion without crying); the best cutting boards. We will practice cutting techniques and prepare some deliciously simple vegetable dishes. We’ll make Vegetable Stir Fry; Hurry Curry Vegetables; Honeyed Heirloom Carrots and Herb Roasted Red Potatoes. Bring your best vegetable knife and a cutting board.

Calling all who have an interest in cooking! Do you love to cook for your parents and/or friends? Are you itching to have more experience and learn safe practices in the kitchen? Come learn the basics of cooking during this one day workshop for youth! Learn basic knife Skills and knife and sharpening; Learn Six different techniques of cooking from braising and roasting to sautéing and broiling. Recipes that will help you practice your knife skills and delicious enough for dinner to impress your family. Please bring a non-serrated kitchen knife

• Learn basic kitchen safety and proper knife skills and sharpening.
• Experience different cooking styles that will include roasting, sautéing, grilling and braising.
• Students will prepare several dishes using these techniques while practicing their knife skills.
• Learn the about the components of a balanced meal.
• We will use balance the five flavors to create the most delicious dishes.
• Learn to plate a meal to make it more attractive.
