Winter Warming Winter Favorite Sidedishes – Hands-On

We’ll prepare some hearty, warming winter vegetable dishes using nature’s best- from hearty greens and winter squash dishes to root vegetables. These are satisfying and warming and beckon to be added to soups, stews and long braises. Experience the satisfying flavors and texture of these winter staples. You will be creating new and delicious dishes and everyone will be wanting more.

Kitchen Shortcuts & Knife Skills – Hands-On

Learn easy knife skills, care and sharpening of knives while enjoying tasty recipes. What are the four knives you must have and learn how to sharpen them. Want to save time in the kitchen? Learn how to cut like a chef, fast and efficient. We’ll cover knife skills; kitchen shortcuts (ex: how to cut an onion without crying); the best cutting boards. We will practice cutting techniques and prepare some deliciously simple vegetable dishes.
We’ll make Vegetable Stir Fry; Herb Roasted Winter Vegetables; Honeyed Heirloom Matchstick Carrots. Bring your best vegetable knife and a cutting board.

We all love the convenience of some pre-made product but often sacrifice flavor. Graduate from the pre-cooked pre-packaged foods and see how easy and delicious “from-scratch-cooking” can taste. Using simple sauces and seasonings you can create a delicious and nutritious meal with just one pot to clean up!
Putting Flavor in Your Food

Add delicious subtle herb and mildly spicy flavors to entrees, soups, salads and veggie dishes. This is a 101 Primer in everything you need to know about herbs and spices. Lecture will cover the difference between herbs vs spices; substituting fresh herbs for dried; how to store; flavor families of spices for different cuisines; stocking pantry with basic spice list.
